Sad News

Jim, my friend Margaret's husband has lost his battle with Lukemia - he was only ill for a short time and died yesterday afternoon. Margaret had her son and her sister with her at the hospital. They are such a small family, just the one son, one sister and no grandchildren. Margaret has decided that she will go ahead with the planned operation to remove her cancerous kidney tomorrow, while her son makes all the funeral arrangements. She should be in hospital about four days and should be Ok in about a week. I just feel so sad.........we have known them about 50 years and they were such a close couple, she is going to feel very lost for some time to come..........

Gosh Granny, it never rains but it pours. I don't think this situation is all that uncommon, my aunt and uncle were the same. My aunt was rushed into hospital last christmas with a blocked bowel that turned out to be bowel cancer, her husband was then under the weather, but it was put down to stress, etc, they only found out too late that he too had bowel cancer, and he went very quickly because it was diagnosed late. Very sad. I do hope Margaret makes a good recovery from her surgery.

How very sad. I hope Margaret recovers OK after the op. Can't be easy to be facing a major op, knowing that afterwards there's the funeral.
Hugs to you, too, you must be feeling very sad.

Margarets op is today and I can't seem to settle to anything - keep thinking about her.....they have said 'no visitors' dont know why....it may be the hospital - it may be her request.

Andrew is married and lives in Nottingham, his wife doesn't get on very well with the in-laws for some reason - Margaret and Jim are a lovely couple and I can see what she could dislike about them. - ah well it takes all sorts.....so Andrew is here on his own doing all the tasks that are required!
